Running shoes
You cannot simply go to the store and buy running shoes.
Just as there are many different types of runners, they all need specific
types of shoes.
The fact is that you would not wear the same running shoes during the
100-meter dash that you would wear in a marathon. This is why runners
need to consider the type of running they will be doing before they
buy running shoes. In some cases, those who mix up their running regiments
might need more than one pair of shoes.
The sprinter who usually does not run more than 400 meters at a time
is going to want to look for running shoes that are form fitting and
give a great deal of traction on a track surface. Because all of the
best tracks are now made of rubber materials, running shoes with small
spikes on them are able to improve the traction for a runner.
Cross country runners, on the other hand, will spend much more time
running on trails and on hillsides than they do on a track. This means
that the best running shoes for them are those that include removable
spikes. On a clear, dry day the spikes are not needed. But if a runner
is on a course on a wet day, the spikes can be inserted to help with
traction.
